The School of Engineering and Architecture (SEA) took another step in community empowerment by conducting a Basic Welding Outreach Program at Pinsao Barangay. The initiative aimed to provide residents with hands-on training in fundamental welding techniques, safety procedures, and the practical applications of metalwork in everyday construction and repairs.
Organized as part of SEA’s Extension and Community Outreach Services, the program brought together faculty members, BET-MECHA student volunteers, and local participants eager to learn the essential skills of welding. The session covered proper use of welding equipment, metal cutting and joining techniques, and crucial safety measures to prevent accidents.

Residents of Pinsao Barangay actively participated in the training, appreciating the opportunity to enhance their skills under the guidance of Mr. Pacyado and Mr. Sacla, both of whom are NCII passers of the basic welding program of TESDA. The interactive workshop allowed participants to apply welding techniques firsthand, fostering both technical proficiency and confidence in handling welding equipment.

The outreach program aligns with SEA’s mission to apply technical education for real-world problem-solving while supporting local communities in gaining practical, employable skills. The school envisions future training programs that will further strengthen local capacities in engineering, architecture, and sustainable construction.
As the demand for skilled labor continues to rise, SEA remains committed to bringing technical expertise beyond the classroom and into communities, ensuring that knowledge is not just learned but also shared for the betterment of society.
