UB and UBAFI Strengthen Alumni Partnerships for Education and Community Development through Project TALENTS

The University of Baguio, through the UB Alumni Foundation, Inc. (UBAFI), recently launched Project TALENTS (Tapping Alumni Leadership, Engagement, and Networking for Total Success) to strengthen alumni engagement, foster meaningful partnerships, and mobilize graduates to support quality education and sustainable community development.

In collaboration with the Linkages Office, the Research, Innovation, Extension, Community Outreach, and Sustainability Office (RIECOS), and its thirteen (13) dedicated schools, will organize their own alumni homecomings and develop activities that encourage stronger connections among graduates, faculty members, and current students. These gatherings will give alumni opportunities to reconnect with former classmates and mentors, share professional experiences, celebrate achievements, and explore ways to support their schools and the university.

To assist with implementation, UB and UBAFI will distribute thirty thousand pesos (₱30,000) to each of UB’s designated schools across basic and tertiary education levels at the start of the 2026–2027 academic year. Schools are encouraged to use this funding to launch programs focused on student mentorship, career progression, curriculum development, professional networking, community outreach, and additional impactful alumni initiatives. By advancing these efforts, the institution aims to foster a more dynamic, connected alumni network while generating opportunities for institutional growth, collaboration, and knowledge exchange.

Building Alumni Partnerships for Sustainable Development

More than a series of homecomings, Project TALENTS recognizes alumni as lifelong partners in the university’s mission. Their knowledge, professional experience, networks, and commitment can enrich academic programs, inspire future professionals, strengthen community initiatives, and help create opportunities for the next generation of UBians.

Advancing the university’s commitment to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN-SDGs), particularly by expanding the knowledge base through encouraging alumni to share their expertise, mentor students, and contribute to relevant learning experiences. Through career guidance, professional networking, and industry connections (SDG 4), the initiative helps students and fellow graduates explore professional opportunities and prepare for lifelong career development. (SDG 8), and fostering collaboration among alums, academic units, and the university (SDG 17).

Together with community partners, the initiative brings people and resources together to achieve shared educational and community development goals. The active engagement from the UB alumni community drives Project TALENTS’ success. All graduates are invited to re-engage with their alma mater by attending homecomings, mentoring students, sharing industry expertise, supporting outreach efforts, and partnering on programs that advance both the university and the broader community.

Each contribution plays a vital role. Through curriculum reviews, career lectures, volunteer work, corporate partnerships, civic engagement, or simply staying in touch with former peers and teachers, alums transform their experiences into valuable opportunities for current students. Graduates are invited to connect with their respective colleges to help direct future Project TALENTS initiatives.

Your connection to UB continues past graduation. Reconnect with your college, pass on your knowledge, and empower future UBians. Join alum initiatives to build a dynamic network where collaboration fosters academic excellence and lasting community value.

Once a UBian, always a UBian. Together, we keep making a difference.
